Glynn’s Obituary Glynn Elwyn “Porker” Born, 79, left this earthly world on May 26, 2019. He was born January 19, 1940 in Avenger, Texas to Juanell Dorgan Born and Hayden Travis Born. Porker was a longtime resident of Marshall.

He had many names. To his friends, he was Porker, to his grandchildren, he was Papaw, to his children, he was Daddio, and to his loving wife, he was Babe. Porker successfully ran an Allstate Insurance agency for many years, where he developed lifelong friendships.

His favorite hobbies were fishing, hunting and traveling. He said retiring was the worst thing he ever did. To fill his days, he developed a love for many things.

But his favorite was spending time at his family farm cruising around on his Bad Boy or sitting on the porch. At home, he enjoyed his Man Cave, where he entertained friends and family with the best jalapeño poppers and gourmet breakfasts. When he was alone, he watched the multitude of hummingbirds who visited every year.

Porker had a big personality. His family is so grateful to Wanda (sweet Nana) for tending to his every need – and we know there were a lot. Porker leaves his wife of 39 years, Wanda; his daughter, Kim Lauritzen (Layne); his stepsons, Mitch Henslee (Betsy) and Mike Henslee (Amanda); his grandchildren, Brittney, Blake, Lindsey, Tessa, Morgan, Conner, Macy, Cason, Hunter; and his great-grandson, Brody.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Juanell and H.T. Born; his brother, Travis Born; and his son, Brett Born. Porker has generously donated his body to the Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials be made in his memory to The Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy or the charity of your choice.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019 at 5 p.m. at Down’s Funeral Home. “Life is changed, not ended”.
