Obituary for Helen L. Hayford Helen L. Hayford , 94, of Alpha, NJ, formerly of Stewartsville, NJ passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at her home. Helen was born in Hardwick, VT on September 23, 1924 to the late T. Andrew Smith and Eleanor Mason Smith Scott. Helen was a saleswomen with The Wear House clothing store in Stewartsville, NJ, retiring in 1985.

She enjoyed doing puzzles, sewing, and quilting. Helen was known as a wonderful baker, who made the best apple pie and icing. Helen was a member of First Lutheran Church in Stewartsville, NJ, where she was the member of the quilting group.

She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Phillipsburg Chapter. Helen is survived by a son, Gordon F. Hayford and his wife, Wanda of SC; daughters, Andrea S. Iglesias and her husband, Bert of Pohatcong Township, NJ and Caroline A. Marinelli and her husband, William of Bath, PA; grandchildren, Renee, William, Samantha, Nathaniel, Benjamin, Lenora, Olivia and Cassandra; as well as great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Gordon F. Hayford, who passed away on November 22, 1993; sister, Earline Atkins; and brothers, Leslie and Wendell Smith.

A Memorial Service for Helen will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 7pm at the Rupell Funeral Home, LLC; 465 Memorial Parkway; Phillipsburg, NJ 08865. A Memorial Visitation of Family and Friends will be held from 6pm until service time at the funeral home. In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made in Helen’s name to First Lutheran Church; 545 North Main Street; Stewartsville, NJ 08886.
