Ira A. Kerns, Jr., 79, of Schuylkill Haven passed away Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born August 19, 1938 in Sellersville, he was a son of the late Ira A., Sr. and Sarah A. (Rush) Kerns and was also preceded in death by brothers Robert M. and Richard L. Kerns. Ira was a motor oil salesman, a National Guard veteran and his hobby was racing.

He enjoyed driving stock cars and working on cars. His most exciting experience was taking second place on a feature race and his scariest was when he was out in front on a feature race, hit a hole, spun out, but luckily he did not get hit by any of the oncoming cars. After his racing days, he served as the secretary for the Bell Racing Club.

Surviving are his wife Donna K. (Mehler) Kerns and sister Betty Jean Nemec. A service will be held at the convenience of the family.
