Obituary for James Samuel (Jim) Long CASTLEWOOD, VIRGINIA – James Samuel (Jim) Long, 77, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Russell County Medical Center, Lebanon, Virginia after a four year battle with Alzheimer’s/Dementia. He was born in Wise County, Virginia; son of the late Hobart and May Hamilton Long. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Sullivan; four brothers, Raymond Long, Milford Long, Clyde Long, and Charles Long; one son-in-law, Leonard Summers; one grandson, Jeremy Long; and his first wife and mother of four of his children, Carol Kemp.

He was a passionate car salesman for forty years and retired from Morgan McClure Ford. He had a great love for his pets, Spike and Puddin. He attended Morning Star Church in Castlewood.

He is survived by four daughters, Chris Summers of Castlewood, Virginia, Rhonda Porter and husband, Allen of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Melanie Ledbetter and husband, Robbie of Mechanicsville, Virginia, and Tonya Padgett and husband, James of Jonesborough, Tennessee; three sons, Scott Long of Mountain City, Tennessee, Tim Long and wife, Susan of Castlewood, Virginia, and Brian Long of Lebanon, Virginia; one sister, Linda Mills and husband, Johnny of Church Hill, Tennessee; mother of two of his children, Brenda Long of Fall Branch, Tennessee; twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Jim Long will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2018 in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, Virginia with Rev. Woody Scott, Rev.

Marvin Cain, and Rev. Travis Lambert officiating. Committal Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2018 in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Virginia.

Family and Friends will meet at the funeral home and go in procession to the cemetery leaving at 10:30 am Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Chase Porter, Eric Summers, Alex Summers, Walker Long, Evan Padgett, Danny Long, Steve Sullivan, and Jason Haga. Honorary Pallbearers will be employees of Morgan McClure Ford and Chevrolet.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2018 in Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood, Virginia. Special thanks to Dr. Ulrich, the Russell County Hospital ICU nurses, and the staff of Maple Grove Health Care that cared for him.
