J.C.’s Obituary J.C. (Bud) Wells of Grandfield, Oklahoma went home to be with his Lord, his beloved parents, brothers, and sister January 28, 2019. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Burkburnett. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Grandfield Memorial Cemetery with Eddie Klump of the Sale Barn Cowboy Church officiating.

Bud was born on December 25, 1942 to George and Irene Wells. He was a member of Sale Barn Cowboy Church in Wichita Falls. Bud’s main passion was the oilfield, where he began working at the age of thirteen.

This passion took him to California, Africa, South America, and All over Texas while working for several major oil companies. Bud started his own drilling company in 1980, and remained working until his death. Another of Bud’s passions were Quarter Horses.

He loved the horse races, and was a very successful owner/trainer. He was very involved in his kids’ and grandkids’ sporting events, and was always there to support them. Along with his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his brothers, Ronnie and Kenneth Wells, and sister Ann Sosebee.

Bud is survived by his companion, Lucy Bonnin; daughters Gayla Gibson and husband Larry, Cindy Smith and husband Steve, and Melissa Pleva; grandchildren Joshua Smith and wife Whitney, Adison Smith, Gidgette Kekuna and husband Kyle, Jordan Pleva and wife Courtney, Priscilla Pleva, and his great-grandkids. He will also be missed by many wonderful friends whom he loved dearly. Honoring the family as pall bearers are: Dude Smith, Lynn Landrum, Bud Singleton, Richard Lehman, Jack Souther, and Danny Souther.

Honorary pall bearers are grandsons Joshua Smith, and Jordan Pleva.
