Obituary for John Diffendall John T. “Jack” Diffendall, 94, of the Ecumenical Retirement Community, Harrisburg, and formerly of Steelton, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2018, in the M. S. Hershey Medical Center. Born in Steelton on August 9, 1924, he was the son of the late James Peter and Bertha Yestedt Diffendall. Jack retired as a warehouseman from the former Naval Supply Depot, Mechanicsburg.

He was a graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School. Jack served in the Navy Reserves during the Korean Conflict era. He was a former member of the American Legion Post 265, Hummelstown, and the Steelton Fire Company.

Jack enjoyed fishing, working on model trains, metal detecting, and especially vegetable gardening. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Elizabeth A. Kucan Diffendall, whom he married on April 1, 1948; three sons, Michael J. Diffendall, James P. Diffendall, and Thomas L. Diffendall; three daughters, Martha J. Scheetz, Jenine E. Marcus, and Beth A. Appleby; 12 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by three sisters, Frances, Mary and Rita.

Private services will be held by the family. Interment will be in the Resurrection Cemetery, West Hanover Township. Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Seven Sorrows BVM Catholic Church, 280 Race Street, Middletown, PA 17057. Online condolences may be shared at www. trefzandbowser.com.
