Josephin Fwhitlatch , August 11, 1926 — October 17, 2018

Josephine Freda Taylor Whitlatch, 92, beloved mother and grandmother, died Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at Camden Clark Medical Center. She was born in Parkersburg on August 11, 1926, daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah Edith Zellers Espy Taylor. Jo was a life-long member of Bethany United Methodist Church, where she held numerous positions including Sunday School superintendent, treasurer, and wherever else she was needed.

Her most important job was that of caretaker. From the time she was a child, she took care of people. Being a wife and mother was her favorite role, and she excelled at it.

She loved babies and spent a good deal of her life not only loving her own children and grandchildren, but also babysitting professionally in her home. She also loved to cook-another way she could nurture those around her. For a few years, she worked as a cook at Washington Junior High School.

She acted as her husband’s caretaker during his final years, and always, always had a smile and hug for anyone who needed it. We will most miss the giggle in her voice. She is survived by one son, Rev.

Ronald (Rev. Catherine) Whitlatch; two daughters, Beverly (Mike) Spiker and Sandy (Butch) Tritt; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two great- great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-six years, Elmer E. Whitlatch, her parents, all 13 of her brothers and sisters, her daughter Sherry Luzader, and her grandson Tom Spiker.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00am at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg with Reverend Cynthia Eakle officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
