Obituary of Joseph Wayne Joseph “Jaju” S. Wayne, 85, formerly of West Hazelton, PA, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at his home in Corning, NY. He was born in McAdoo, PA on February 27, 1933, the son of Stanley and Mary (Sawchak) Wasilewski. He was married to Theresa Grohol on July 13, 1957 in McAdoo, PA.

They spent 57 happily married years together until her passing on August, 10, 2014. Joseph graduated from McAdoo High School and later received a degree from Penn State University. He served his country in the Army from 1952-1955 as a Russian translator.

His passion for learning led him to a full career in education. Throughout his tenure he was a History Teacher, Adult Education Teacher and he retired from Hazelton Area School District in 1996 as a Special Education Teacher. He was a member of All Saints Parish, serving as a Eucharistic Minister to homebound and nursing home parishioners.

He was also a member of the Transfiguration Parish, Holy Name Society, and the Knights of Columbus in West Hazelton, PA. He was also a familiar face at the Corning YMCA. Joseph is survived by 4 children: Joseph J. Wayne of Drums, PA, Teresa (Dave) Stauffer of Hellertown, PA, Sandra (Randy) Flick of Corning, NY, Eric (Jennifer) Wayne of Brambleton, VA.

; 9 grandchildren: Jessica (Rich) Cornwell, Noelle (Tom) Rebain, A.J. Stauffer, Ryan, Aaron, and Amanda Flick, Sydney, Tucker and Maxwell Wayne; 3 great grandchildren: Jocelyn and Nathan Cornwall, Stella Rebain. Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Zachary Stauffer. Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be held in Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
