Obituary of Wilma Schoonover Wilma J. Schoonover, 78, of Bath, NY passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at her home with her family by her side. Born in Blossburg, PA on January 7, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Cecil B. and the late Jeanette (Gardner) Youngs. She married James “Jack” Schoonover on August 9, 1986 in Bath, NY.

Wilma worked as a homemaker raising her five children. Wilma enjoyed crocheting and traveling – recently traveling to many of the East Coast states. She will be remembered for her willingness to help anyone in need.

She was known as “Mom” and “Grandma” to everyone. Most important to Wilma was her family – they were her center. Her many family gatherings will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

Wilma is survived by children: Linda (David) VanDusen of Bath, NY, James “Jim” (Kelly) Schoonover of Bath, NY, Larry (Sabrina) Schoonover of Bath, NY, Randy Schoonover of Bath, NY; step-daughters: Elizabeth (Jess) Bolt of Lawrenceville, PA, Violet Fail of GA; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Wilma was predeceased by her son, Mancel “Max” Schoonover and several brothers and sisters. A Celebration of Life will be held at Noon on February 23, 2019 at the Bath VFW, 7230 NYS Route 54, Bath, NY.

Wilma will be laid to rest in Hedgesville Cemetery. Carpenter’s Funeral Home, 14 E. Pulteney St., Corning has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations in Wilma’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or to CareFirst, 3805 Meads Creek Road, Painted Post, NY 14870.
