Obituary for Laurence A. Bowers Sr. Laurence A. Bowers, Sr., 91, of Plainfield Township, PA, passed quietly from this life to his eternal rest on Thursday, July 19, 2018, in his home. Laurence was born in Harmony Township, NJ on July 23, 1926 to the late Samuel and Nellie Reed Bowers. He served his country in the US Navy Seabees, and after his discharge in 1946 he married Anna E. Sebring.

Together they raised five children in Stewartsville, NJ Laurence was a custodian with Greenwich Township Elementary for 25 years, and owned and operated Larry Bowers Cleaning Service for over 25 years. In addition to his work, he spent many hours as an avid wood crafter. Laurence faithfully attended church throughout his life, and particularly loved singing hymns.

He was beloved by all who knew him. Laurence is survived by his sons, Laurence A. Bowers, Jr. and David Bruce Bowers, Sr.; and by his daughters, Sandra Snyder and Juanita Hoogerhyde; 15 Grandchildren; 26 Great-Grandchildren; and 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren. Laurence was predeceased by his first wife, Anna, who passed away in 1972; his second wife, Velma H. Fehr Bowers, who passed away in March 2018; a daughter, Diane Bachstein; a grandson, David Bruce Bowers, Jr., and a granddaughter, Sara Ann Bowers.

A Service of Remembrance and Farewell will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 11am at the Rupell Funeral Home, LLC; 465 Memorial Parkway; Phillipsburg, NJ 08865. A Visitation of Family and Friends will be held from 10am until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Harmony Township, NJ.
