Obituary for Lavada J. (Dickerson) Smith Lavada J. (Dickerson) Smith, 86, of Fate, TX, passed away June 27, 2018. Born January 16, 1932, she was the daughter of Levonia (Hale) Richardson and Pascal Dickerson. She married Conrad L. Smith, who passed March 21, 2001.

Lavada will be forever remembered for her kind and mild mannered disposition. Of the Baptist faith, her life was an example of kindness, grace and positivity. She was a devoted wife, mother, granny and great granny who possessed a servant’s heart, always putting the needs of others first.

Lavada was an avid reader who had an uncanny knack for keeping up with all the latest news and trends. She was very involved with her family and their activities. Her wit, sharp mind and memory amazed her friends and family.

Lavada touched the lives of all who knew her and will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. She was survived by her loving sons: Douglas Veach (Mary), Dennis Smith (Becky) and Danny Smith (Nadine); grandchildren: Shari (Damon), Melissa, Kasi, Kayla, Lindsey (Justin), Garrett (Amber) and Mason; seven great grandchildren: Stetson, Kaden, Ella, Noah, Lily, Landry, and Hartley; brother: Utah Dickerson (Thelma); and Conrad’s extended family; along with a host of loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband: Conrad Smith; sister: Laverne Rhodes; niece: Myra Mae Belcher and loving niece and best friend: Nita Kay (Dickerson) Brown.

A celebration of Lavada’s life will be held 10:00am Friday, July 6, 2018, at Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Rockwall Location. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park. A gathering for family and friends will be held at the funeral home Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00pm.
