Obituary for Lowell S. Dickerson Lowell Dickerson, 86, of Grayson, passed away Monday, August 27, 2018 at the Boyd County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born September 17, 1931 in Elliott County, Kentucky a son of the late Clyde and Jewell Parsons Dickerson. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Joy Brammell Dickerson; a son, Lowell Keith Dickerson; a brother, James Thomas Dickerson; and a daughter-in -law, Sandra K. Maddix Dickerson.

He was of the Baptist faith, and graduated from Sandy Hook High School and Morehead State University. He was a member of the Carter County Education Association and the National Education Association. Lowell was involved in education, coaching and administration most all of his working life.

He started in one and two room schools in Elliott County, Ison Creek (Wallow Hole), Crackers’ Neck and Bruin. Then moving to Carter County to Shellrock, then Willard Elementary as Principal when he retired. In many of these schools he served as basketball coach.

His other accomplishments included management of the Campgrounds at Grayson Lake, a deputy sheriff, and a night watchman for DD&S Coal Company. He is survived by a son, David Kevin Dickerson of Grayson, Kentucky; a brother, Clyde Eugene Dickerson of Green, Kentucky; a sister, Myrtle Faye Kitchen of Grayson, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Rachel Lee Dickerson, and Alexander Keith Dickerson; two great- grandchildren, Matthew James Gore, and Grayson Keith Dickerson; a step-great-grand child, Joseph Davidison and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday, August 31, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson, George Steele and Leland Wilcox officiating.
