Marcia Elaine (Johnson) Boysen, 72, of Grand Island passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2019. Celebration of life services will be held 2:30 p.m. on Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Joel Henson will officiate.

Burial of ashes will take place at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery in York. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Marcia Elaine (Johnson) Boysen was born on August 4, 1946 to Elmer and Shirley Jewell (Kiel) Johnson at Fargo, ND.

The family moved to Great Falls, Montana and then to Grand Island, Nebraska where Marcia attended school through 7th grade. Marcia’s family moved to York, Nebraska and Marcia graduated from York High School in 1964. Marcia’s college experience began at Chadron State College before transferring to Kearney State College, graduating in 1968.

During her third year of college, Marcia accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior after seeing a Billy Graham film. After college Marcia taught at the Christian High School in Stanzel, Iowa. Next Marcia moved to Minnesota where she served on missionary staff at Bethany Fellowship for three years.

After doing a one-year internship in Mexico, Marcia returned to Bethany Fellowship in 1974 to prepare for missionary service. She relocated to Florida where she worked with various Spanish ministries. Marcia returned to Nebraska in 1978 and enjoyed teaching ESL classes.

Marcia met and married Ted Boysen the summer of 1990. They later divorced. Marcia moved to Grand Island in 1993.

In 1994 Marcia began to experience back problems and was no longer able to be employed on a full-time basis. Marcia was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Grand Island. Marcia is survived by her sister, Marlene Gates of Arizona.
