Maria Rinaldi October 31, 1919 – March 15, 2019 Share this obituary View/Sign Guest Book WATERBURY Maria Rinaldi “Loving mother, grandmother and great grandfather” Maria (Varrone) Rinaldi, 99, of Waterbury, was reunited with her husband in heaven on Friday, March 15, 2019, at Autumn Lake Healthcare at Bucks Hill surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of the late Antonio Rinaldi. Maria was born in Pontelandolfo, Benevento, Italy on October 31, 1919, daughter of the late Giovanni and Margarita (Calabrese) Varrone.

Maria, her husband and her two children made the courageous journey to the United States to start a new life in 1952. She worked at Lakewood Metal as a press operator for many years until her retirement. Some of Maria’s fondest memories were taking bus trips with St. Lucy’s Church with her family and friends.

She also loved to cook, dance and sing. Maria leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter; Nelly Wilbur and her husband Gerry of Torrington, her daughter-in-law, Theresa Rinaldi of Waterbury and her sisters; Mariangela Orsini of Canada, Domenicangela Longo of Hartford and Elda Orsini of Watertown. She also leaves behind her four grandchildren; Traci Damon and her husband Jonah, Daniel Wilbur, Anthony Rinaldi and his wife Desiree, John Rinaldi and her four great grandchildren; Kayla Damon, Kiera Damon, Arianna Rinaldi and Rocco Rinaldi.

She was predeceased by her son; Rocco Rinaldi and sister; Giuseppina Varrone. Maria’s family would like to thank everyone at Autumn Lake Healthcare for all of the exceptional care that they showed to her during her time there, especially her roommate Emma, who always looked out for her. Arrangements: A funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, 9:00 a.m. Chase Parkway Memorial / The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway Waterbury to St. Lucy’s Church in Waterbury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
