Dawson, GA–Marie Powell McLendon, of Dawson died on May 18, 2018 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. The funeral service will be held on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 2:00 P. M. at Harvey Funeral Chapel in Dawson with interment in the Parrott Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 20th, at Harvey Funeral Chapel, from 6:30 to 8:30 P.M. Marie was a life long resident of Terrell County, born on February 7, 1937 in Parrott, daughter of the late Jospeh Lawson Powell and the late Mattie Lou Barfield Powell.

She was a homemaker and a former member of the Pierce Chapel Methodist Church. She was married to the late Charles Lee McLendon. She was a member of the Dawson United Methodist Church, and over her lifetime Marie enjoyed golfing, tennis, hunting, and especially fishing with her grandchildren.

She was also a former member of the Mary Brantly United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Stone Castle Daughters of the American Revolution. . In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers Hubert Powell, Paul Powell, and Lawrence Powell, and a sister, Margaret Powell Steadham.

Survivors include a son, James Nolan McLendon (Dawn) of Dawson; a brother, Louis Powell of Albany; two grandchildren, Lawson Webber McLendon of Columbus, Ohio, and Jamisen Lee Grabb (Jonathan) of Evans. Memorials may be made to The Methodist Home for Children & Youth, P. O. Box 2525, Macon, GA 31203. Harvey Funeral Home of Dawson in charge of arrangements.
