Obituary for Mary Elizabeth (Budzinski) Barry Mary Elizabeth (Budzinski) Barry, 76, found her peace on Thursday, July 5, 2018. Mary was born on November 18, 1941, to Stanley and Cecelia, in Westfield, Massachusetts, and raised in Webster. Mary joyfully lived her life bathed in the light of love from her cherished husband, Ronald Barry, for over 55 years.
Together, Mary and Ronnie made their loving home on Ann Street, in Raynham, and began to build the first generation of their immortality, bringing their eldest, Lisa, into the world, followed by Debbie, Ron Jr. (Skip), and Robin. Mary has eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, over whom she fawned and bragged, and hugged and held, brimming with love and pride. After close to 40 years of unwavering dedication to our area’s sick and suffering as a Registered Nurse and the Chief Hospital Supervisor at Taunton State Hospital, Mary retired in 1998, and with her dear Ronnie, sought respite from the cold in sunny Leesburg, Florida in 2007.
Unable to remain so far from their beloved family, they courageously left tropical Florida behind to return to Bridgewater during this past Easter weekend. It is fitting they chose the weekend of our Lord’s resurrection to once again begin a new life in the place where it all began. It is divine synchronicity that she was called home by God only 3 months later.
Mary raised Lisa Barry Silvia, who is married to David Silvia and mother of Billy and Nicole, grandmother of Destiny, Brian, and Aubrey. Her second born child, Debra Barry Ernest, is married to Joseph Ernest, mother of Allen, Rebecca, Emily, and Ronnie. Mary’s only son, Ron Barry, Jr., is married to Dr. Alex Perez-Barry.
Ron and Alex also recently returned to the area after 25 years in Florida to be nearer to their family. Mary’s youngest child, Robin Barry Jones is married to Jeffrey Jones and is mother to Melissa and Laura. Robin just recently welcomed her first grandchild, James.
Mary’s greatest legacy is her beloved family. She is now all love for all of eternity, able to embrace us every day, while her body was no longer strong enough to do so. Mary had a God-given gift for everything involving a needle and thread.
Until her Alzheimer’s disease gradually robbed her of the ability to produce and document her art, she had made more than 84 quilts which she joyfully inscribed with her signature and date and distributed them to her family and friends. It is impossible to count the counted cross-stitch masterpieces she created, stunning garments, afghans, and blankets she crocheted and knitted. Her sewing was just as marvelous, and she wrapped us in her love through her creations.
The Lord truly spoke through her hands. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association be made to Team Mary for our family’s walk to end Alzheimer’s Disease. Please click on this link today to make your donation.
