Maxine Higginbotham Whitehouse of Louisville, Kentucky, formerly of Owensboro, passed away on April 21, 2018. She was born in Hancock County, Kentucky on September 21, 1925 to the late Josie and Clarence Arington. She was a member of Owensboro Christian Church and a long time member of Owensboro Country Club.

She was an avid golfer, bridge player, and also enjoyed reading. Maxine’s beauty went beyond her looks and always being meticulously dressed. She was kind to everyone and made friends everywhere she went.

She was deeply loved and will be missed by friends and family alike. She is preceded in death by her first husband, James E. Higginbotham and her second husband, Carl Whitehouse. She was also preceded in death by her stepson, Howard Whitehouse; her step-grandson, Daniel Johnson; two sisters, Nellie Nugent and Thelma Voyles, and two brothers, Estill and Virgil Arington.

She is survived by her son, James E. Higginbotham, Jr. (Teresa) and stepson, Joseph Whitehouse (Terri). Also surviving are two grandsons, James Higginbotham, III (Susan) and Aaron Higginbotham (Katy); three step-granddaughters, Rebecca Johnson, Ashley Creviston (Lee) and Alicia Bell (Robert); and four nieces and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 in the Chapel at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro.

Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Maxine requested that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of contributions to the charity of your choice.
