Menno S. Beachy, 92, of Salisbury, PA, died Thursday, October 25, 2018, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville, MD. Born June 26, 1926, in Grantsville, he was the son of the late Samuel and Lydia (Hershberger) Beachy. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Grace M. (Beachy) Beachy, August 8, 2010 and one brother, Alvin Beachy.

Mr. Beachy was owner of Sam Beachy & Sons and Beachy’s Apple Butter “The Apple Butter with Character”. He was a member of Mountain View Mennonite Church and helped establish the Mountain View Christian School. Menno was founder and director of the Mountain Anthems for more than 40 years, “That was the reason God put him here”.

He became an Amish taxi service in his later years and wrote an autobiography, “Grace Enough for My Life’s Journey”, derived from a song he wrote, “Grace Enough”. He was a past board member on various businesses in this community. He is survived by one son, James Beachy, married to Catherine Yoder, Centreville, VA; three daughters, Ellen Wegman Mace, married to Thomas, Salisbury; Joyce Maust, married to James, Harrisonburg, VA; Thelma Lanteigne, married to Michael, Grantsville; one brother, Sam Beachy, Jr., Manassas, VA; two sisters, Elva Yoder and Fannie Beachy, both of Springs, PA; 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the Mountain View Mennonite Church on Monday, October 29, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Merlin Beachy officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Mountain View Mennonite Cemetery.
