Merlin R Roth October 10, 1945 – February 18, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card In Memory of Merlin Ray Roth A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Beth-El Community Church with Pastors Jim Hight, Jim Swihart, and Brad Roth officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, 11 am – 8 pm with the family greeting relatives and friends from 6-8 pm at Lauber-Moore Funeral Home, Milford. Interment will be in the East Fairview Cemetery.

A funeral luncheon will follow in the East Fairview Fellowship Hall. Memorials have been established and may be directed in care of the family. Merlin Ray Roth was born October 10, 1945, on a farm south of Milford, Nebraska, to Albert and Stella (Eicher) Roth.

He was the youngest of six boys. Merlin passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019, in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 73. Merlin attended District #84 Country School, just south of Milford.

Merlin accepted Jesus as his personal savior in his youth and was baptized at East Fairview Mennonite Church, where he was a lifetime member. He also regularly attended Beth-El Community Church. Throughout his life, Merlin enjoyed working on the farm.

He helped many farmers, putting up hay. Later, he worked at Roth’s Family Restaurant, washing dishes. He also loved helping Brian Schweitzer with his auction service.

Merlin loved people. He loved fishing with his “fishing buddy”, Carl. The Thursday night buffet at the Pizza Kitchen, in Milford, was a favorite weekly highlight for Merlin.

Merlin made a friend of whomever he met, wherever he went. For over 20 years, Merlin resided at Linden Village in Milford where he enjoyed many special relationships with friends and neighbors. Merlin’s family was very important to him.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Milton and Wilma Roth, sisters-in-law, Edna Roth (wife of Willard), Bonnie Roth (wife of Arnold), nieces, nephews and spouses – Milton’s family: Dawn (Roth) and Jim Swihart , Victoria (Roth) and Scott Chapman, Orlando and Toni Roth, Janell (Roth) and Dale Neff. Edna’s family: Karen (Roth) and Chris Heater, Marvin and Stacey Roth. Bonnie’s family: Lynelle (Roth) and Steve Leichty, Becky (Roth) and Art Mellinger, Shelly (Roth) and Tony Houk, and Monty Roth.

He will also be missed by his 27 great nieces and nephews as well as seven great, great nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Greeting Merlin in heaven are his parents, Albert and Stella (Eicher) Roth, his four brothers Willard, Burdette, Darold, and Arnold Roth.
