Mina Brown Pollard September 26, 1921 – March 16, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Mina Brown Pollard, passed away March 16, 2019, in Charlottesville, Va. Mina is survived by her children, Mina Karen (Richard), Kristin (Ray), and Alvin/Jerry (Nancy); grandchildren, Matthew and Alexander; stepchildren, William (Judy) and Katherine; and step-grandchildren, Bryan, Henry, and Wesley. She is also survived by her sister, Erma (Arthur) Carchedi.

Mina was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Dr. William B. Pollard, Jr She was born as Mina Foster Brown to the late Lillian and the late Frank Brown in Baltimore, Maryland. She grew up in Washington, D.C. and attended George Washington University.

She graduated with a degree in Psychology. She served in the Coast Guard as a Lieutenant during World Word II. She married Alvin G. Dulcan in 1947 and had 3 lovely children: Mina Karen in 1948, Kristin in 1950, and Alvin, Jr. in 1952.

Mina and Alvin were divorced in 1968. She later married Dr. William B. Pollard, Jr. and moved to Charlottesville, Virginia. She helped raise William and Katherine Pollard.

She returned to George Washington University and earned her Masters degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. She was able to use her degree to provide Family Counseling for a few years. Mina loved to sing and had a beautiful voice.

The New York Times crossword puzzle was no match for her. She played duplicate bridge every week and had a number of master points. Thanks to the staff at the Colonnades for making her last few years comfortable.
