Obituary for Nancy M. King Nancy Moffitt King of Orange, 87, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Attorney Jackson T. King. She is survived by her children, Attorney Susan King Shaw (David) of Woodbridge, Karen F. King of Vermont, Alison King Haley (Pierce) of Boston, MA, and Thomas J. King (Claudia) of Orange.

She is also survived by her sister, Marjorie Streckfus of Bridgeport, her six grandchildren, Emily and Jackson Shaw, Pierce Jackson and Saunders Haley, and Colton and Kaela King, as well many nieces and nephews. Nancy was born in Bridgeport on February 14, 1931, to the late William H. Moffitt, III and Helen Saunders Moffitt and grew up in Fairfield. She was a graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School and St. Joseph’s College, and received her master’s degree in education from Columbia University.

Prior to her marriage, Nancy worked as a registered nurse and public health nurse administrator for the VNA in the greater Hartford area. After her marriage, she devoted her life to her family, children and grandchildren, and was widely known for her kindness, compassion and service. Nancy was an active member of Holy Infant Parish, and served as a lector in her later years.

Her great faith and unconditional love for others were an example and inspiration to all who knew her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Holy Infant Church. Friends are asked to go directly to church.

Burial in Orange Center Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4 – 7 p.m. in Sisk Brothers Funeral Home 3105 Whitney Ave. Hamden.
