Norman C. Shafer, 92, of Wilson Borough, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018 in New Eastwood. Born February 24, 1926, in Easton, PA, he was a son of the late Charles Shafer and Alma (Conine) Shafer Mertz. His wife of 65 years, Margaret L. (Paige) Shafer, died April 16, 2011.

Norman graduated from Easton High School Class of 1944. He served with the US Navy during WWII aboard the U.S.S. Astoria in the South Pacific. He retired as an insurance agent from Prudential Insurance, where he was employed from 1947-1987.

Norman was a member of Palmer Moravian Community Church. A 32nd degree mason, he was a Past Worshipful Master and member of Easton Lodge 152, F & AM. He was also a member of Brown & Lynch American Legion Post 9, Palmer Township and AARP.

Surviving are three daughters, Patricia Shafer, of Palmer Township, Kathleen Mesler and her husband Robert, of Castle Rock, CO and Bethann Fucci and her husband George, of Wilson Borough, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Masonic services will be held at 11am Friday followed by services at 11:15 am in Palmer Moravian Church, 2901 John Street, Palmer Township. Call Friday 10-11am in the church.

Burial will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine. Arrangements are by the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson Borough. Offer online condolences at www.
