Orvilla’s Obituary Over the years, many of you have enjoyed homemade angel food cakes and potato salads prepared by your friend Orvie. Please think of these when you remember Orvilla Laura Swenson who passed away January 26, 2019 at Oak Hills Living Center where she was living. Orvilla (Orvie) was the daughter of Walter and Helena Schroeder born April 27, 1925 in Morgan, MN.
Upon graduation from high school, she moved to New Ulm where she was employed by State Bond and Mortgage Co. as a bookkeeper and met a fellow from Lafayette, Sheldon Swenson. They were married on February 11, 1951. Together they raised a family and spent many years farming until their move to Lafayette in 1966.
Orvie continued as a bookkeeper for the Lafayette Farmer’s Cooperative and Retslaffs Ace Hardware in New Ulm until her retirement. Orvilla was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Helena Schroeder, baby daughter, husband, Sheldon Swenson, her brother Alvin Schroeder, sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, Genevieve and Lennart Nelson, LaVerne and Clyde Stroman and sister-in-law Audrey Swenson. Orvilla is survived by immediate family, her daughter and son-in-law, Jane and John Lebens of Portland, OR, daughter and son-in-law, Shirley Swenson and David Hill of Mt.
Pleasant, WI, daughter, Susan Swenson of Minneapolis, grandchildren, Jim Hill of Santa Clarita, CA, Isaac Hill of Mt. Pleasant, WI and great-grandchildren, Calvin and Charlotte Hill of Santa Clarita, CA. Orvilla is also survived by loving family, brother and sister-in-law, Harill and Eileen Schroeder, Sleepy Eye, MN, sister and brother-in-law Deloris and Edgar Kiecker, New Ulm, MN, Dennis Swenson, Inver Grove Hts.
, James and Shirley Swenson, Dunedin, FL, Leland and Linda Swenson, Genoa City, WI and many nieces and nephews and their children. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church prior to the funeral service. Funeral Services will be held on February 1, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop with Pastor Paul Tessmer officiating.
Burial will be at Eden Cemetery, Morgan, MN.
