Alma’s Obituary Alma Irma Enter, 97, of New Ulm passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm, MN. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Nicollet with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2019, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Nicollet and also at the church one hour prior to the time of service on Friday.

Alma is survived by her sons, Steven (Sandy) of Fredonia, WI; Arnold (Beth) of New Ulm; Charles (Wendy) of New Ulm; and Arden (Lori) of Nicollet; eleven grandchildren and thirty-three great-grandchildren. Alma was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, in 2010 and great-grandson, Lincoln John Tews in 2015. Alma was born on March 21, 1921, in Friedheim, Missouri, to William Christian Kester and Ada Louise (Moeller) Kester.

She was baptized on April 3, 1921, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim and confirmed on April 14, 1935, with her confirmation verse Psalm 145: 18-19 “The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear Him: He also will hear their cry, and will save them”. In the early 1940’s, Alma was a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked for families with newborns in various parts of the country.

Alma met Henry at the Lutheran Service Center in San Antonio, Texas, in 1945 when she was nanny for her sister’s young children, and Henry was stationed in Fort Sam Houston. They courted on the San Antonio River Walk. Alma married Henry C. Enter on July 5, 1947, in Friedheim.

Alma & Henry farmed in Granby Township, Nicollet County until retirement in 1981. Alma picked up and cleaned countless eggs from hundreds of chickens over the years. Beginning in 1981, Henry & Alma resided in New Ulm and Alma enjoyed living in her retirement home until May 2017.

Alma made dozens of hand-stitched quilts and insured that every grandchild received a quilt from Grandma. She also was an excellent baker. Alma and Henry were members of Trinity Lutheran Church, Nicollet.

Alma became a member of the Trinity Ladies Guild in 1948 and enjoyed service to the congregation. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church, Nicollet, MN and Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School.
