Ralph’s Obituary Ralph H. Rieger, age 91, of Nicollet, died Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Pathstone Living Center in Mankato. Funeral Service will be 11:00 am on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet. Pastor Dan Witte will officiate, and burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors.

mvfh.org Ralph is survived by his wife, Ardella; his daughters, Jean Hopp, Gail (Ken) Blaschko; son, Scott (Bonnie) Rieger; grandchildren, Jeff Hopp, Shawn Fouse, Mindi (Greg) Squires, and Ben Rieger; two great-grandchildren, Savannah and Darius Squires; sisters-in-law, Helen Rieger, Audrey Rieger, Molly (Dave) Rengstorf; brother-in-law, Linus Plautz, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Florence (Larry) Wurmstein, Virginia (Dick) Manthey, Aurelia Plautz; brothers, Frank and Quentin Rieger; and his granddaughter-in-law, Madeleine Hopp. Ralph Herman Rieger was born on June 9, 1927 in New Ulm to Frank and Aurelia (Simmett) Rieger in New Ulm.

He attended St. Mary’s grade school and New Ulm High School. In his senior year, he joined the Army and served in Germany during World War II. On returning home, he finished high school.

On March 27, 1950, he married Ardella Schroeder in Nicollet, MN. Ralph worked as a carpenter and started Rieger Brothers Construction in 1963 with his brothers, Frank and Quentin Rieger. He retired in 1995.
