Reverend James Davis August 11, 1933 – June 17, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Reverend James “Brown” Davis, 84, was born August 11, 1933 in Greenwood, South Carolina to the late John and Edna Davis. He entered into eternal rest of Father’s Day, June 17, 2018 in Columbia, South Carolina after battling a long illness. He joined the Bethlehem Church of God Holiness at an early age.

He was a veteran of the United States Army. Reverend Davis live in Greenwood, South Carolina for much of his life. He was educated in the Greenwood Community School System and later moved to Wilmington, North Carolina where he met and later married his wife, Alice Yvonne Jenkins.

They later moved to Abbeville, South Carolina where they worshipped in the Saint Paul Church of God Holiness until his health began to fail. Reverend Davis was licensed as a local minister in August of 2008 at the Annual National Convention of the Churches of God Holiness in Atlanta, Georgia. He love the Lord and his church family dearly.

Reverend Davis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He owned his own construction company and was an avid tennis player and fisherman. He was very physically fit and enjoyed gardening, walking, jogging and bike riding.

He loved the beach, cooking and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his devoted wife, Alice Davis, one brother, Frank Davis of Columbia, South Carolina; one sister, Mary Davis of Philadelphia Pennsylvania; his children, Edna Davis, Barbara Cloud, Lottie Bishop, Debbie Roman, Anthony Davis, James Davis, Jr., Ronald Davis, Stephanie Davis, Shavonne Jenkins, Kimberly Jenkins, and Latrasha Allen. He also leaves to cherish his memories are grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Bethlehem Church of God Holiness with Presiding Elder Carter T. Peek officiating. Reverend Davis will be placed in the church at 12 noon. Burial will follow in the Evening Star Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the chapel of Parks Funeral Home on Friday, June 22, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Parks Funeral Home is assisting the Davis Family. .
