Richard B. Landis March 11, 1933 – January 16, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Richard “Rich” B. Landis, 85, of Souderton, PA went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Souderton Mennonite Homes. He was the loving husband of the late Doris J. (Landis) Landis for 61 years. Rich was born in Chalfont, Pennsylvania to the late Paul R. Landis and the late Anna R. (Barndt) Landis.

He was born and worked as a farmer on the family farm which now resides under the Peace Valley Park area. After leaving the farm, Rich was employed as an electrician for Bergey’s Electric Inc. in Hatfield, PA for more than 40 years. He was a former member of Steel City Mennonite Church for more than 30 years and a member of Finland Mennonite Church for more than 20 years.

Rich was active in leading congregational singing for many years as well as serving as an audio technician at both churches. Throughout his lifetime, he volunteered at Spruce Lake Wilderness Camp, Grand View Hospital, Mennonite Re Center, and Souderton Mennonite Homes. Rich loved spending time with his family and family always came first.

He enjoyed being outdoors which included camping, boating, fishing, and swimming. Rich also enjoyed socializing with everyone he came in contact with and loved riding his Jazzy. He was a caring, compassionate, jovial, friendly man who had a good sense of humor, always willing to help others, and put others first.

Rich is survived by his four daughters, Diane L. Nice & husband, Ron of Telford, PA, Marilyn L. Gahman & husband, Don of Telford, PA, Kathy L. Rittenhouse & husband, Dayle of Souderton, PA, Gwen Landes & husband, Corey of Telford, PA; 13 grandchildren – Daryl & wife, Amy, Eric & wife, Lauren, Tonya, Julie & husband, Joe, Kyle & wife, Tina, Jared, Amber, Christina, Angela, Nathan, Shelby, Sarah and Trevor; 10 great-grandchildren – Abby, Aubrey, Riley, Carter, Kylie, Christopher, Dominic, Clara, Patrick & Jayden. ; his brother, Frank B. Landis & wife, Ginny of Souderton, PA; his sister, Gladys Alderfer of Troy, PA; and his brother-in-law, J. Henry Moore of Souderton, PA. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Moore, his infant sister, Arlene Landis, and his brother-in-law, Willard Alderfer.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at 4:00 pm at Souderton Mennonite Summit View Auditorium, 207 W. Summit St., Souderton, Pennsylvania 18964. An informal visitation will take place from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at Souderton Mennonite Homes. A private inurnment will take place at Souderton Mennonite Church Memorial Garden.
