Rodney Scothern, 59 passed away peacefully December 20, 2018 at Ogden Regional Hospital. Rodney was born November 24, 1959 in Brigham City, Utah to Doyle and Ada Lynne Scothern, the second of five boys. Growing up in Brigham City, he attended Box Elder High.

After graduation in 1978, he served the country in the Navy for 4 years touring the world on a nuclear submarine. When his tour was up, he returned to the Brigham City area, joining his father and brothers working at ATK in metrology. He worked at several other area facilities until Rod’s health declined and was unable to work.

Rodney married Judy Munk in 1984. They were later divorced. Rod was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Growing up with 4 other brothers, the house was alive with activity. Rod enjoyed water skiing, snow skiing, football, and later scuba diving. Rod enjoyed his time riding motorcycles with family and friends.

If there was a ride, he was on it. The open road riding his bike brought a great amount of enjoyment in his life. He was a kind and compassionate person.

Rod has fought a valiant fight over the years with his health. He struggled and fought his body until it was unable to go on. It was time for Rod to go fishing with his dad and brothers.

Rod leaves behind his mother, Ada Lynne Scothern, Brigham City; brother Dave (Dawn) Scothern, Willard; nieces & nephews: Colby Scothern, Amber Scothern, Kim Newman, Tiffany Minjares, Willie Scothern, Caleb Scothern and Chance Scothern. Many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends that will miss Rod greatly. Preceded in death by his father, Doyle; brothers: Thayne, Evan and Terry; his grandparents, some cousins, aunts and uncles.

A viewing will be held Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Myers Mortuary at 205 S 100 E, Brigham City, Utah from 1:00 pm to 1:40 pm. Funeral services will follow the viewing at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
