Roger Dale Guthrie, Sr., 74, of Grantsville, MD, died Thursday, July 5, 2018, at his residence. Born May 4, 1944, in Grantsville, he was the son of the late George and Virginia (Savage) Guthrie. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Pauline (Hardesty) Guthrie; one son, Bill Guthrie, one grandson, Ryan and one brother, Ronald Guthrie.

Mr. Guthrie was a lumberjack. He is survived by three sons, Bruce Guthrie, Baltimore, MD; Rick Kahl, Oakland, MD; Dale (Heather) Guthrie, Grantsville; one daughter, Virginia (Steve) McKenzie; three brothers, Roy Guthrie, Swanton, MD; Randall Guthrie, Hedgesville, WV; Rex Guthrie, Kitzmiller, MD; two sisters, Sandy Sisler, Oakland; Sharon McCormick, Uniontown, PA; seven grandchildren, Lara, Josh, Justin, Levi, Angie, Ashley and Corynn; five great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Monday, July 9, 2018 from 1-5 p.m. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home at 5:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Blooming Rose Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Justin Guthrie, Josh Beitzel, Randall “Rocky” Guthrie, William “Gus” Hardesty, Travis Knotts and Michael Knotts. Expressions of sympathy may be directed in care of the family. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.
