Obituary for Roland Kissel Roland Kissel, 92, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at St. Vincents Medical Center. He was born August 6, 1926 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Stella (Foster) and Fred Kissel. Roland attended Central High School before joining the US Navy serving during WWII.

Returning from the Navy he met his future wife, Anita, and they were married on August 23, 1947. Roland was a lifetime member of the VFW 1114. He retired from Alcoa in 1989 after 29 years.

He loved attending his grandchildren’s activities and reading history books. He was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed watching the Cubs and Cardinals. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church.

Roland is survived by his wife of 71 years, Anita J. “Nikki” Kissel; son, Jeff (Cindy) Kissel; daughter, Deborah (Randy) Winters; grandchildren, Lance (Angie) Moffett, Michelle (Bryon) Purkey, Daniel Kissel, Jason Kissel and Bryan (Jenny) Winters; great grandchildren, Kent, Derrick and Trevor Stevens, Kelsey and Emily Moffett, and Annabelle Purkey; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Pamela (Kissel) Moffett; granddaughter, Dawn Marie Stevens; brother, Jerold Kissel. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm Friday, November 16, 2018, at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave.

, Evansville. Visitation will continue Saturday, November 17, 2018, from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm, at University Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 1236 Lincoln Ave. Evansville, IN.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm with Father Ted Tempel officiating. Entombment will be at St. Joseph Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to the Evansville Association for the Blind, 500 N 2nd Ave, Evansville, IN 47710 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
