My husband, their dad, our grandpa- We loved him and he loved all of us. Romain Ryder was born in his Grandma Ryder’s house on December 30, 1935 to Herbert and Birgit Ryder.

From a very early age he showed a deep passion for farming, which led him to pursue his long-life dream. With the support of his wife and five children, he successfully established Ryder Farms. Romain graduated from Froid High School in 1954 and attended college in Havre.

He moved back to Froid, where he married his life-long love and dancing partner, Yvonne Tyler on January 30, 1955. Together they built a family and precious memories. Their children, Arthur, Robin, Jeffrey, Diana and Patrick were their pride and joy.

Naturally, there was never a dull moment in the Ryder household. Romain enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards with family and friends. Some of his fondest memories were fishing at Jan Lake in Canada.

He also spent a few winters in Palm Springs playing golf and enjoying the California sun with Yvonne. Along with being a successful farmer, Romain also served on the Agri Insurance Board and Farm Credit Board of Directors. Later he and his sons raised cattle at his feedlot west of Froid.

Romain was the number one fan of his twelve grandchildren and twenty- three great grandchildren, attending various sporting events and rarely missing a game. He was a generous, intelligent, hardworking individual who held the hearts of his family near and dear. Romain is survived by his wife, Yvonne Ryder; his sons Arthur, Rob (Lea Ann), Pat (Tylene), son in-law Stanley Lodahl; twelve grandchildren; Shannone (Rob), Rocky, Michaela (Getty), Natasha (Michael), Melissa (Dustin), Carrie (Jon), Patricia (Justin), Kyle (Jodi), Melanie (Charlie), Beau, Jeff (Kelsey), Dylan (Jynna); twenty-three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
