On Saturday, January 19, 2019, Ronald “Dean” Miller closed his eyes on earth and met his Jesus in Heaven. Dean achieved victory over a two-year battle with colon cancer. His 51 years on Earth were filled with a love for God first, then his family, and a love for life that surpassed all others.

He was born in 1967 to Pauline Miller and the late Lester Miller. Dean spent his childhood immersed in the mountains, motorcycles and trucks. Dean spent the next 30 years doing what he loved most.

You would find him behind the wheel of anything with a motor. His friends loving called him “Snowman”. Dean had proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, was a member of the Richlands Masonic Lodge #318 AM&FM and had spent most of his life in the Russell and Tazewell County areas.

He was preceded in death by the man who shaped and molded him into the son, father, and husband he is today, his father Lester Miller. Dean spent all his life passing on a love for God, family and life to those left to carry on his legacy which are: His wife and loving bride, Marie Miller of Richlands, VA. His Son, Justin Miller and wife, Brittney of Honaker, VA Daughters of the heart, Kara Boyd and Raegan Boyd of the home His number one fan and loving mother, Pauline Miller of Swords Creek, VA The lights of his life, his grandsons, Hayden, Kamden, Carsen and Mason Canine Companion and constant protector, Sadie Dean leaves a host of family, friends and loved ones who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to all the members of Friendly Chapel Church for their unfailing support during this time and to Legacy Hospice for the wonderful care they provided. Deans family will host a Celebration of Life Service at Dean’s home church, Friendly Chapel at1701 Smith Ridge Road, Jewell Ridge, Virginia on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Leonard Meadows officiating. The family will gather at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home for a procession to the church, the procession will pull out at 1:00 pm.

A Masonic service will be conducted by the members of the Richlands Masonic Lodge #318 AM&FM. The Casey-Shortt VFW Post# 9640 will respectively conduct the military rites.
