Charles E. Vernon, Sr., age 76 died Friday, January 18, 2019 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center in Bluefield, WV. He was born January 20, 1942 at McDowell County, WV and was a son of the late Harry Thomas Vernon and Margarite Holbrook Vernon. Charles was a 1959 Graduate of Tazewell High School and then graduated from Dabney S. Lancaster Community College in Clifton Forge, VA with an Associate’s Degree.

He was a United States Air Force Veteran. Mr. Vernon had worked for many years as a Production Manager for Foss Manufacturing in Hampton, New Hampshire. He was very involved with local politics in Tazewell County, and enjoyed shooting, working on guns; he was an avid survivalist and “prepper”.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother. Those who survive to cherish his memory include his loving wife of fifty-four years, Gracie Vernon; two children, Charles E. Vernon, Jr. and wife, Teri of Salem, VA and Teresa Ann Vernon Smith and husband, Tim of Rock Cave, WV; seven grandchildren, Joshua Edgerly, Heather Vereen, Ashley Yates, Sarah Cisneros, Rachael Vernon, Eric Vernon and Michelle Vernon; four great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother. Honoring Mr. Vernon’s wishes, his body will be cremated and there will be no public services.
