Ronald’s Obituary Ronald E. Rebuck, age 70, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 3, 2019, surrounded by his family. Born June 20, 1948 in Harrisburg, he was the son of Mervin E. and Evelyn F. (Otstot) Rebuck. Ron was the Campus Director of Nursing on the Harrisburg Campus of HACC.
Ron began his relationship with HACC as a transitional LPN seeking advanced standing in the Associate Degree RN Program. Graduating with an AA in nursing in 1980, he went on to build a career as an exceptional psychiatric nurse, and later to complete his studies at the University of Maryland where he received his Masters Degree as a Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist. In 2002, Ron transitioned into the role of Director of Programs on the Harrisburg Campus. His leadership would expand nursing from one campus graduating approximately 120 RN and 40 PN students a year to four campuses, enrolling 6 full-time and 6 part-time Associate Degree cohorts and two Practical Nursing cohorts a year resulting in our current enrollment of approximately 1,200 students in nursing programs today. Ron’s passion for nursing was evident in everything he did.
Ron lead by example and was a leader who recognized the importance of treating everyone with dignity and respect. He was a loyal friend, a respected colleague, a passionate student advocate (especially for males in nursing) and the face of HACC Nursing at a regional and national level. Ron WAS HACC Nursing.
The HACC Nursing family and the HACC Community and those beyond the walls of HACC will mourn his loss.
