Obituary of Ronny Lou Smith Ronny Lou French Smith, 80, of Gowanda, died Tuesday, July 17, 2018 in the Gowanda Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. She was born March 5, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois, the only child of the late Sidney and Florence (Felten) French. Ronny Lou grew up in Hamilton, New York and graduated from Winter Park High School in Winter Park, Florida.

She attended Stetson University and Syracuse University. Following her education, she became a housewife and was known for her creativity through many crafts, including quilting and ceramics. Later, she worked as a Nursing Assistant with the V.A. Hospital in Canandaigua, New York.

Ronny Lou raised a wonderful family, loved her Newfoundland dogs, and spent many happy times behind the camera taking photographs. She is survived by her daughters BethAline Smith of Deland, Florida, Shannon McGurk (Martin) of Hamilton, Ontario and Sarah-jaine Smith of Daytona Beach, Florida as well as her son Palmer Smith (Stacey) of Aurora, Colorado, eight grandchildren and one great- grand child. She was preceded in death by her companion Richard Carbino.

Visitation will not be observed but a memorial service will be held in the near future in Hamilton, New York. Memorials may be made to Roswell Parks Cancer Center or the department of pediatrics at Shands Hospital, Gainesville, Florida. Visit our website www.
