Rose Marie’s Obituary Rose Marie Spicer, 91, Minot, ND, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Trinity Health in Minot after failing health. Rose Marie was born February 20, 1928, the daughter of Michael J and Rose (Eizenzimmer) Sattler, in Devils Lake, ND. She was the oldest of eight children.

She grew up in Grand Forks, ND and attended St. Michael’s Grade School and St. James Academy. Rose Marie married William “Bill” Spicer in St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND, on July 5, 1949. They made their home in Grand Forks before moving to Minot in 1962.

Together they raised three daughters, Susan (Bill) Mosser, Cynthia (Melvin) Ell and Patricia Spicer all of Minot. Bill was active in the Knights of Columbus #4894 along with the North Dakota State Knights of Columbus and Rose Marie loved traveling with him to all of the activities that took place over the state. She was also a member of the KCettes, when that organization was active.

Bill passed away on August 2, 2001 and she continued to live in Minot. Rose Marie was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot and St. Cecilia’s Guild in the church’s Altar Society. She served many funeral lunches, church dinners and helped count the offerings on Sunday.

She served on the decorating committee when the new rectory was built. She had a very strong faith that carried her through her life, which she passed on to her girls. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy and she attended events that they participated in.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, tending to her flower garden, music, often singing while ironing and doing other chores. Those Who Shared In Her Life: Three daughters, Susan (Bill) Mosser, Cynthia (Melvin) Ell, and Patricia Spicer all of Minot. Grandsons, Jeffrey (Heather) Ell, Minot, Christopher Ell, Minot, Travis Hoiland, Lincoln, ND, Troy (Sara) Hoiland, Lincoln, ND , four great grandsons, Tyler Ell, Chase Hoiland, Sean Ell and Michael Ell, three step grandchildren, JoAnn Mosser, Clayton Mosser and Michael (Trisha) Mosser.

Several step-great grandchildren and two step great great-grandchildren; brothers, George (Marion) Sattler, Grand Forks, Jacob (Ann) Sattler, Boise, Idaho, sisters, Virginia (Leroy) Knutson, Grand Forks, ND, Kathleen (Gary) Smith, Reardon, WA and Eileen (Wally) Abbott, Duluth, MN, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William “Bill” Spicer in 2001, grandson, Shane Hoiland, two brothers, Frank Sattler and James Sattler. m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot. Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Vigil Prayer Service: Wednesday at 8:15 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
