Life Story for Sandra Joyce Jones Calhoun City—Sandra Joyce Jones, 74, entered into her Heavenly home from Baptist Memorial Hospital in Calhoun City on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. Born July 29, 1944, in Webster County, she was the daughter of the late John Orr and the late Alma Williams Orr. She was a 1963 graduate of Eupora High School, and a member of Hohenlinden Baptist Church.
She was retired from Continental Seating in Vardaman, and has been a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother ever since. She loved listening to music and dancing, and she loved to be out and about and going to town. But at the end of the day, she loved to be sitting in her favorite rocking chair, and just relaxing and taking in the beauty of God’s green earth.
Above all, she loved her family. She cherished the time spent with her grandkids and great-grandkids. She was her family’s rock to lean on, and they are heartbroken over her untimely passing, but they find comfort in knowing that this is all part of God’s plan.
We don’t always understand, but having faith reminds us that a joyful day is coming, and they will be reunited in Heaven one day. Pryor Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Jones family. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held Friday, November 16, 2018, at 2:00pm at Pryor Funeral Home.
There will also be a visitation on Thursday, November 15, 2018 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the funeral home. Bro. Pete Gregory will be officiating.
Interment will follow at Montevista Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Havens, Louis Havens, Donald Havens, Cody Smith, Hunter Russell, John Hood and Gage Hubbard. She leaves behind her daughters, Amanda Neal and Wendy Jones, both of Bentley; her son, Scottie Jones and his wife Keri of Bentley; a brother, Dewey (Ruby) Orr of Calhoun City; four sisters, Martha Jean Shannon of Coffeeville, Frances Harris of Florida, Catherine Medders of Eupora, and Sara Ruth Patridge of Gulfport; five grandchildren, Haley (Cody) Smith of Montevista, Mandie (Hunter) Russell of Bentley, Maci Jo Jones, Jack Jones, and Jenna Beth Jones, all of Bentley; two great-grandchildren, Gage Hubbard and Greer Smith; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Alma Orr; the father of her children, Gordon Jones; five brothers, R.T. Orr, Durrell Orr, Troy Lee Orr, Otis Orr, and Travis Orr; five sisters, Mary Cooper, Inez Gross, Clytee Golden, Winnie Smith, and Earline Freeman; and her son-in-law, Alan “Squirrel” Neal. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that during this difficult time of their parents’ passing, donations be made to help with these unexpected expenses.
