Muncy will be at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Robert Smith, Lead Pastor of Dayspring Community Church officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, OK. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2019 at the funeral home.

SFC (Retired) Edwin P. Muncy, 85, Lawton, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2019 in Lawton. Edwin was born October 13, 1933 in Dryhill, Kentucky to William and Mae (Bagley) Muncy. He enlisted in the Army on April 19, 1951 and retired on June 1, 1973 at Fort Sill.

While in the Army he earned the following awards, the Army Occupation Medal (Germany), the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal (1st through 6th award), the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device. Sergeant Muncy was extremely proud that he did two eighteen month tours in Vietnam. Following his retirement Edwin worked at the Fort Sill Commissary for forty-two years.

Edwin married Carol Sue Murphy on January 27, 1957 in Lawton. Carol passed away August 2, 1988. Edwin later married Georgene Colombraro on November 27, 1989 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Edwin was a good son, husband, father and grandfather who loved his family very much. He cherished his time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed taking his family on camping trips and always attended his family’s school functions and his children’s Girl Scout functions.

Edwin enjoyed motorcycling and was always willing to help others in need. He will be missed by his family and all who knew him. Edwin is survived by his wife Georgene, seven daughters, Barbara Davis of Lawton, Jessica Taylor of Lawton, Jennifer Richardson and Allen Tinker of Lawton, Jaime Hargrove and fiancé Allen Hodge of Lawton, Justine Hankins and husband Jacob of Piedmont, Oklahoma, Jana Carter and husband Allen of Lawton, Destiny Muncy and D’Angelo Dawson of Lawton, and Tiffany Medders and husband Will of Lawton, three sons, Jerry Muncy of Florida, Quan Muncy and Linh of Oklahoma City, Hoang Muncy and Minh of Kansas City, Kansas, 25 grandchildren, Stephanie Muncy, Amanda Mobley, Austin Giles, Jordan Rollison, Jaylin Magers, Jania Taylor, Morgan McLaughlin, Keegan McLaughlin, Devin Hargrove, Damon Hargrove, Malachi Hankins, Kaleb Hankins, Adalyn Hankins, Jimmy Hankins, Chloe Hankins, Allen Douglas Carter, III, Lily Muncy, Dominiqua Davis, Stacy Muncy, Anthony Muncy, Brayedan Elder, Johnathan Waters, Stanley Hodge, Jacob Hodge, and Chandler Hodge three great grandchildren, Malik Mobley, Caleb Mobley, and Kayden Giles, three brothers, Danny Adams, Dill Adams, and Darrell Adams, one sister, Helen Lamb, good friend, Lonnie Magers and other nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends.

Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, son, James Dean Muncy, first wife, Carol Sue Muncy, and eight siblings. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
