Shawn Patrick James Murphy, 42, of Johnston City, was found at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2019, near Johnston City. Shawn was born on July 28, 1976, in Murphysboro, to Sharon (Fauss) Murphy and Patrick James Murphy. He had worked in factories.

Shawn loved to go fishing, loved nature, and he especially loved motorcycles. He was also very gifted in writing. Shawn is survived by his son Jeffrey Lee his mother Sharon Murphy, both of Murphysboro one sister Connie Gentemann of Ballwin, MO; and a long time companion and love of his life Nikki Dobbs of Murphysboro.

He was preceded in death by one brother Jason Murphy and his father. His body will be cremated and private family services will be held at a later date.
