Obituary of Shirley Corey Shirley Irene Corey Campbell – Shirley I. Corey, age 91, of Campbell, NY passed away peacefully on Monday, January 21, 2019 at Steuben Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare. Born in Bradford, New York on July 2, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Albert R. and the late Ruth L. (Havens) Pruden. She graduated from Campbell High School, class of 1944 and later attended SUNY Geneseo where she received her Bachelors degree in Elementary Education.

She married Robert E. Corey in 1946 in Thurston, NY. He preceded her in death in 2005. She was an elementary teacher for Campbell Central School for 22 years before her retirement in 1982.

Shirley was an active lifetime member of the Campbell United Methodist Church and of Delta Kappa Gamma. In her free time she enjoyed reading and traveling. Together, Shirley and Robert traveled to 49 of the 50 states both before and after their retirements.

Her greatest joy was her family and the many family get-togethers held over the years. Shirley is survived by children: Kathleen Denning of Rochester, NY, Janet (William) Mishook of Bath, NY; grandchildren: Kimberly Denning, Ryan (Seana) Denning, Lyndsay (Bryan) Wolfe, Michael (Tuesday) Mishook; seven great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; brother, Louis Pruden of FL; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was predeceased by brothers: Donald, Raymond, Leonard and Gerald Pruden; and sister, Evelyn Loomis.

Family and friends are invited to visitation on Friday, January 25, 2019 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Campbell United Methodist Church, 8516 Main Street, Campbell, NY. A memorial service will immediately follow at the church at 11:00 am, Pastor Veronica Seeley officiating. Burial will take place in the family plot in Hope Cemetery, Campbell at the convenience of the family.

The family will provide flowers. Donations in Shirley’s name may be made to the Campbell United Methodist Church, 8516 Main Street, Campbell, NY 14821. Shirley’s family would like to give special thanks to Brookdale and Steuben Centers for the exceptional care they provided the last four months.
