Verna Lee Long, 80, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2019 at her residence. Born in Anna, IL, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Ruth (Tinsley) Lacy. Verna was the wife of Galen E. Long with whom she would have celebrated 39 years of marriage this coming May 31st.

Verna retired from Texas Commerce Bank. She enjoyed listening to country music and her favorite artist, Daniel O’Donnell. Verna loved animals and will be missed by her golden retriever, Brandi.

She also enjoyed camping, soap operas, game shows and the Golden Girls. Surviving in addition to her husband, Galen, is a daughter, Gloria Lewis, wife of Stephen of Lancaster; two grandsons, Austin and Derek Lewis; a sister, Betty Odum of TX; and a brother, Gary Lacy of VA. She was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Charles Lacy.

A memorial service honoring Verna’s life will be held at the Sheetz Funeral Home, Inc. 16 East Main Street, Mount Joy on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 5 PM . Family and friends will be received at the funeral home before the service from 4 PM to 5 PM. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Drive, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.
