Alfred G. Chutes, 81 of Coolville, Ohio died at his residence on June 19, 2018. He was born in Athens County, Ohio on October 18, 1936 and was the son of the late Clarence C. and Lodie L. Buchanan Chutes. He retired from O’Ames following 32 years of service.

He was a graduate of Carthage-Troy High School in Coolville, Ohio. He was attending Little Hocking Church of Christ. Alfred loved God & Country, Blue Grass Music and his family and friends.

He enjoyed gardening, cookouts and any outside activities. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Virginia Chutes, two sons, Thomas Chutes of Coolville, William “Bill” (Sandy “Bip”) Chutes of St. Marys, WV, a grandson, Coy (Sheena) Cantwell of Vienna, WV, 5 great grandchildren, a girl that he helped raise till the age of 12, Kara Smeeks Henry, two nieces, Ellie Chutes Basham and Shirley Canter Chutes, a nephew, Mike (Wendy) Chutes. Also surviving is his sister Geneva Owens of Hockingport, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Alvin and Otis Chutes. Services will be on Friday at 1:00 PM at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre with Charlie Cramlet officiating. Burial will be in the Frost Cemetery.
