Angela Marie Pena November 17, 1991 – January 15, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Upload Photo| Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Sympathy Card Angela Marie Pena, 27 years of age, and a resident of Elyria, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at St. John Westshore Hospital in Westlake, following a sudden illness. She was born November 17, 1991 in Amherst, Ohio. Angela was raised in Amherst, graduating from Marion L. Steele High School with the class of 2010.

She was pursing a degree in criminal justice as well as receiving two other Associates degrees at Lorain County Community College. She was employed as a waitress at Wahlburgers Restaurant in Cleveland. Angela was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lorain and was attending worship regularly at House of Praise in Lorain.

She was an auxiliary member at the VFW Post #1662 in Amherst. Angela enjoyed swimming and during high school she was active with volleyball and softball. Angela loved animals and was a supporter of ASPCA foundation.

Her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family and friends, especially her niece and nephew. Survivors include her father John Fitzgerald. Pena, Sr. (Shari) of Amherst; her mother Paula Kay Summer (nee: Nabakowski) of Elyria; her step sister Brandy Smith of Amherst and her daughter Ashlyn; her sister in law Tyra Pena of Lorain and her son Jayden; her paternal grandmother Eva Pena of Amherst; her maternal grandmother Karen Meanor of Oberlin; her step paternal grandparents Theodore and June Kuhn of Lorain; and her step maternal grandmother Phyllis Nabakowski of Vermilion.

She was preceded in death by her brother John F. “Johnny” Pena, Jr. in 2012; her paternal grandfather Fred Pena in 2000; and her maternal grandfather Michael Nabakowski in 2018. Friends may call Sunday, January 20, 2019 from 2-4 and 6:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 8:30 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave. , Amherst.

Burial will be held privately by the family at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made directly to the family to help assist with the funeral expenses.
