James William Sultzer, Sr. September 11, 1924 – January 05, 2019 Share this obituary Local Florists Send Sympathy Gifts Upload Photo| Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card James William Sultzer, Sr., 94 years of age, and a resident of Tennessee, formerly of Lorain, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Quality Care Health Center in Tennessee, following a full and meaningful life. He was born September 11, 1924 in Scottdale, Pennsylvania. James was raised in Pennsylvania before he was drafted in the United States Army where he served in the 313th.

Artillery Battalion 80th. Infantry Division during WWII. He moved to Lorain in 1947 where he had made his home for many years before moving to Tennessee where he resided until his passing.

James was employed at Lake Terminal Railroad for thirty-seven years before retiring. He was a senior member of the Lorain unit of the Civic Air Patrol. He was a member of New Haven Baptist Church in Sheffield.

James loved reading his Bible and was an avid reader of many books. In his spare time during his younger years he enjoyed riding his motorcycle. During his retirement years he loved spending time with his grandchildren, bowling, walking and watching sports.

Survivors include his wife of seventy years Aileen Sultzer (nee: Blackburn); his son James W. Sultzer, Jr., (Sandy) of Goodlettsville, TN; his daughters Teresa Sultzer of Lorain and Delores Buck (Edward) of LaVergne, TN; his three grandchildren; Jennifer Gilkes (Joseph), Jeremy Buck (Cindy) and Christina Alderman (Phil); and his nine great-grandchildren whom he adored Jaden, Jaxon and Jett Gilkes, Joshua and Emma Buck, and Clark, Cora, Zelda, and Wendy Alderman. He was preceded in death by his brothers Bill Sultzer, Tom Sultzer, Ben Sultzer and Sister Helen Blaine (nee Sultzer); and his parents Clark and Mary Sultzer (nee: Maraugha) Friends may call Wednesday, January 9, 2019, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave. , Amherst.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Roy Lovett, pastor of New Haven Baptist Church will officiate.
