Staffeld, 83 years of age, and a resident of Elyria, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, at New Life Hospice Center in Lorain. He was born April 15, 1935 in Westlake where he was raised. Russell married his wife Reba and they moved to North Ridgeville, then LaGrange.

Elyria has been his home for the last ten years. He was employed at Ford Motor Company in Cleveland for thirty-eight years before retiring in 1991 as a semi truck driver. Russell was a member of First Baptist Church in Elyria.

He volunteered his time at the YMCA in Lorain and for New Life Hospice Center in Lorain. Russell enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening. He loved traveling with his wife and family.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-seven years Reba Raye Staffeld (Nee: Frederick); his son Roger John Staffeld (Paula Jeanette) of Penfield Twp. and his daughter Julie Ann Kramer (Robert) of Lorain; and his two granddaughters Hannah and Hailey Staffeld. He was preceded in death by his parents Alvin John and Minnie Marie Staffeld (nee: Scherler); his brother Earl Staffeld and his sister Irene Jewell.

Friends may call Saturday, January 5, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave. , Amherst. The Rev.

Craig Golden of First Baptist Church in Elyria, will officate. Burial will follow at Crown Cemetery, Amherst. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church; 11400 LaGrange Road, Elyria, OH 44035 or New Life Hospice; 3500 Kolbe Road, Lorain, Ohio 44053.
