Nelson (nee: McGucken), 90 years of age, and a resident of Elyria, went home to be with her Lord and Savior while surrounded by her family on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at David Simpson Hospice House, following a full and meaningful life. She was a lifetime resident of Elyria, born November 18, 1928. She was employed at Brown Fin Tube in Elyria for over nineteen years in the accountant department.

June was a member of the Church of the Open Door in Elyria for over forty years. She was active with the Ambassador class, Wednesday night children’s ministry, Ladies Bible Study which she sometimes hosted at her home. June had a servants heart providing hospitality to guest speakers and church members and also served as a deaconess.

She will be remembered as someone who had a heart to serve others. June was a devoted mom and grandmother and cherished the time she was able to care for them. She enjoyed collecting glassware and ceramics.

Among those who will cherish June’s memory is her daughter Bonnie Brodnik (Brian) of Chagrin Falls; her grandchildren Victoria “Tori” Shaker, Vance Brodnik; and her sister Joyce Bradner of Englewood, Florida along with cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by he husband of forty-six years Louis Clayton Nelson on April 16, 1994; and her parents Edward and Bonnie McGucken (nee: Sprague). Funeral Arrangements are pending.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer’s Association; 37309 Harvest Drive, Avon, OH 44011 or Hospice of Western Reserve; 17876 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44110.
