Betty Donna Zimpelman May 30, 1930 – January 26, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Betty Donna Zimpelman, 88, formerly of Silver Lake died at 11:20 a.m. Friday, January 25, 2019 at The Hearth at Sycamore Village, Fort Wayne where she had been a resident since August. She was born May 31, 1930 in Marion, Indiana, a daughter of the late Kenneth and Reba (Wright) Raypholtz. Her formative years were spent in the Sweetser area where she graduated from Sweetser High School.

In 1951, she was united in marriage to Ivan “Red” Zimpelman. The couple had last lived in Silver Lake. Ivan precedes her in death.

A professional secretary, she had worked for public schools and several manufacturing facilities in the Warsaw area. She was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star. She is survived by a brother, Larry (Rose) Raypholtz, Wapakoneta, OH; a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Zimpelman, Columbia City and a sister-in-law, Julia Raypholtz, Additionally, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary Zimpelman and a brother, Kenneth “Bud” Raypholtz.

The funeral service is 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial is at the Lakeview Cemetery in Silver Lake. Visitation is 1 p.m. Thursday until the service at the funeral home.

Memorial in honor of Betty are to the donor’s choice.
