Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens under direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2019 at the funeral home.

Charles Dewayne “Charlie” Langford, age 81, of Lawton, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2019. He was born May 9, 1937 in Mountain Park, Oklahoma. Charlie was a man of strong character, high morals, unwavering integrity and compassion for others.

A man of great Christian values since he was a very young man. He was a long-time member of The Christian Center in Lawton, Oklahoma where he greeted many at the door with a smile on his face. Charlie started his career in the newspaper industry serving his journeyman apprenticeship at the Lawton Constitution.

Charlie was a journeyman pressman and supervisor working for numerous newspapers throughout the years, retiring early from Gannett Newspaper in Detroit, Michigan to care for his mother-in-law in Lawton, Oklahoma. Upon returning he worked for the Oklahoma Blood Institute for over ten years where he delivered blood to Oklahoma Hospitals where he was loved and respected by everyone he touched. Charlie was known for baking his famous pecan pie muffins and delivering the muffins to nurses at the hospitals he frequented.

When Charlie did not have time to bake muffins he delivered donuts. Charlie’s nature was one of “giving” whether it was donuts, muffins or financially to the numerous charities he supported. He is survived by one sister Evelyn Johnson (Charles), his wife Dolores Langford and two sons; Kenny Langford (Debbie) and Tony Langford (Rose), three grandsons; Dominick Langford, Brandon Langford and Jon Langford and four great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents W.J. and Minnie Langford and nine brothers and sisters.
