Dunham will be 9:30 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2019 at Locust Grove Baptist Church, Elgin, with Dr. William F. Watkins, Pastor and Rev. Jimmy Lehew, Associate Pastor, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Fort Sill National Cemetery under direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.

Charles L. Dunham, age 79, Lawton, died Thursday, January 17, 2019 at his residence. He was born November 21, 1939 in Lawton to Charles A. and Teresa Dunham. He grew up in Lawton and attended Lawton High School.

He married Bette Benge on December 12, 1958 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Charles joined the Army in 1958 and served as a military policeman. Following his discharge he worked for the Wichita Falls Police Department motorcycle and canine units for 7 years.

He then accepted a job with AAFES where he worked until his retirement in 1993. After his retirement he worked for the Comanche County Sheriff’s Department as a detective. He was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church and was past president of the Cox Volunteer Fire Department.

He liked to read, hunt, bicycle and enjoyed music, playing both the guitar and drums. He is survived by his wife, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Margie and Mark Pfeiler, San Antonio, Texas; four sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffery Dunham, Los Angeles, California, Chuck and Naomi Dunham, San Antonio, Texas, Bryan Dunham, San Antonio, Texas and Chris and Emily Dunham, Lawton, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren; one great great grandson; and his brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Jennifer Dunham, Elgin, Oklahoma. His parents, a brother, Arthur Dunham, a sister, Sandra L. Gabriele, and a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Dunham, preceded him in death.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Locust Grove Baptist Church or the Cox Volunteer Fire Department.
