David was a life long resident of St. Albans and a 1970 graduate of St. Albans High School. He spent 35 years at Charleston Newspaper as a camera, scanner, and pressroom operator. As a dedicated father, David coached and refereed youth soccer for several years.
He and his sons enjoyed camping, fishing, hiking, and skiing, allowing them to experience and appreciate the natural beauty and wilderness that West Virginia offered. David had an affinity for extreme sport and participated in skydiving, hang gliding, and whitewater rafting, to name a few. Aside from cooking, one of his most cherished pastimes was spending time with his grandchildren.
Due to his eclectic and expansive experience through life, it was often joked that David could fix anything but a rainy day. This view and approach to life had left some to say that he was one of the last free spirits. David was never bound by walls or rules, showing how life can be lived humbly, happily, and passionately.
So remember, die living. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home on 6th Avenue in St. Albans from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. A Celebration of Life service will start at 2:00pm.
